Hardship Status
There might be situations, when some clients are unable to keep up with the payments on their late taxes. Besides, some clients might not qualify to take advantage of the bankruptcy laws or the offer in compromise program due to procedural or other circumstances.
In such cases, it is possible to convince the IRS that collection against you is not possible without creating an undue hardship, or is simply not collectible at all. Then the IRS may designate your account as "Currently not collectible" and assign a "hardship status" to you case.
We negotiate a temporary "hardship status" on behalf of our clients. Fortunately for many people, this is not that difficult to achieve. In these situations the government withdraws until the client is able to continue with his payments.
